Solving problems and resolving conflicts with Conflict Resolution Model

This is a guide for conflict resolving, the first three are irrational, emotion-based responses and the later three are rational. Remember that rational way is not always the best way.



1. Escape
run away, avoid recognizing the conflict or facing the other party.
result: lose - lose

2. Fight
Try to win by every possible means, attack and fight even if the other party loses.
result: win - lose

3. Give up
Let the other party win the conflict by giving up, not showing up.
result: lose - win

4. Evade responsibility
Delegate the decision, avoid confrontation. Blame it on others, or leave it for someone else other than the parties involved.
result: lose - lose

5. Compromise
Give in some of your values, standards, or beliefs.
result: win - lose OR win - lose

6. Reach a consensus
Reach on to the other party to resolve the issue together, this requires understanding and the power of negotiation.
result: win - win
